How to Style Little Girls' Outfits for Christmas

The holidays are here, and traditions and celebrations abound. Personally, one of my favorite parts of the holidays is planning out all of the cute outfits for my little girl.

Ok, ok, this is my favorite thing year-round.

But at Christmas, there’s all the fun, bright colors and accents, plus there are always lots of parties and events to dress up for! There are plenty of reasons to plan out fun holiday outfits for your mini-me.

Take a look at some of our favorite ways to style little girls’ outfits at Christmastime. We’ve got anything and everything you could have on your agenda, so get ready for some awesome inspiration!

For Christmas Dinner

Perhaps the most classic Christmas event (after tearing the wrapping paper off of each and every gift under the tree Christmas morning) is the Christmas dinner. Maybe it’s just your own little family, or maybe it’s a big shin-dig with all of the cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Maybe it’s paper plates with Santa on them or your grandmother’s fine china. There’s no right or wrong way to do Christmas dinner, as long as you’re gathering with the ones you love for a delicious meal!

Whatever your Christmas dinner looks like, it’s the perfect excuse to get very, very dressed up. This is the perfect opportunity for a fancy, red, velvet dress. Extra points if it’s ruffled. This red velvet dress checks off all the boxes.

For the Class Christmas Party

At some point in December, it’s very likely that your little girl is going to have a holiday celebration in her class at school. Whenever that happens, you’re going to want to make sure she has the right outfit to make the day a little extra special.

This holly berry dress is the perfect option! It has those classic shades of red and green that we love to see this time of year, but the fabric is soft and stretchy, so it will be easy for her to play in during the party without getting too uncomfortable. She’ll be set to play games all day long in this comfy dress; it’s the perfect balance between style and ease.

Top it all off with a cute little cardigan and some darling red shoes (what little girl wouldn’t love some glittery red flats?) to complete her holiday party ensemble.

Oh, and did I mention it has pockets? I know, I probably should have led with that. This dress has got it all.

For Christmas Eve

The longest night of the year for a child, am I right? Between the anticipation of gifts and the possibility of sneaking a peek at Santa Clause, Christmas Eve is a pretty big night for kids. The anticipation can be eased with some themed Christmas pajamas.

Ok, maybe not. But if that’s what you need to tell yourself to justify the purchase, then you do you.

Personally, I’m all about the matching family pajamas. Seeing all of your kids all lined up in a row in those coordinating plaid pj’s? And then you and your spouse are wearing them too? There’s nothing better. Just think about the pictures you’ll get. Totally priceless.

If you’re not about matching pajamas, find some cute, Christmas-themed pj’s to make the night special. Some darling silk pajamas will make her feel extra fancy, or perhaps a cute nightgown for the big night!

For Christmas Shopping

Maybe you’re taking her to pick some gifts for her siblings and cousins, or maybe it’s that trip to the grocery store to grab all the must-haves for Christmas dinner. Between the Christmas music playing throughout the stores and the holiday decor in the stores, holiday shopping is pretty dang magical. Whatever it is you’re shopping for, it’s the perfect excuse to dress festively.

Use this as an opportunity to be a little more subtle about your little girl’s Christmas outfit. A cute, olive green jumpsuit with a red bow in her hair is a great way to go, or perhaps a ruffled red sweater with some glittery leggings and boots.

For Christmas Family Gatherings

The creme de la creme of the holiday season is getting together with family. Especially as a young child, having this opportunity to play with cousins and visit with family members that you haven’t seen in a while is such a fun part of Christmas. And of course, family Christmas gatherings call for special Christmas outfits!

A cute, Christmas-themed shirt and coordinating leggings are a great option if this is a family gathering where there will be lots of running around and playing and getting worn out. If you’re looking for something a little more dressy (but still playtime friendly), a red and black buffalo check dress with a darling bow tied in her hair is going to be perfect!

For Christmas Church Services

Are you planning on attending any special, Christmas-themed church services? Whether it’s your Sunday services or it’s a religious Christmas concert, getting your little girl dressed up for the occasion is going to be a must. (sidebar, can we just talk about the cute little bow tie and suspender sets that they have for little boys for these occasions? Killer. Totally killer.)

This is another fun opportunity to go all out. A classic plaid dress is a good option here (especially if it has big bows!) You might also consider adding some extra-fancy accessories, like a faux fur vest or some dainty jewelry for a fun finishing touch.

Whatever you have on your holiday agenda, make sure your little girl has the outfits and styles to make everything special and, of course, fabulous. So take a look at your holiday agenda and see what special events you can plan out an adorable ensemble for your little girl. The memories you make and photos you capture this holiday will prove to be treasured for your family for years to come.
